Design & Project Work

Tailoring to suit your requirements!

You're unique you know!

Most Reel Handling applications are unique. Yes, OK, the machines and the products run are similar, obviously. But where they are located, what is around them, above them, the people who operate them, all introduce factors that must be considered when designing a Reel Handling system, or even just selling say a standard WestonLV Reel Handling truck. **

It starts with a survey and study of what is already there and what the end result, the goal, should be.

Then, the design process starts with concepts; ideas for possible  solutions, beginning at the desired end result and working back to ascertain how this goal is best achieved and in what steps.

These concepts are then discussed and re-discussed with operators and management to examine their practicality, effectiveness, useability and value for money within a given budget!

Only then, do we start putting meat on the bones and at each stage, the consequences and implications of using a particular vehicle or component are checked. EG: In the concept sketch here, What Load Cell to use? How is it powered? Can the weight of the Reel Cradle be tared off? Can an operator see the display? What's the cost? What's the alternative? Then, which Hoist to use, Air? Electric? Is there enough headroom?

What comes next is a bespoke design, matching the right solution to your requirements. This can be as simple as a Reel Lifting cradle to hang on your existing crane, or a complete Reel and Shaft Handling system. See examples below!

**NB: Even when a standard Reel Truck is what's needed, the environment around it, any obstacles, its turning circle, height, length, etc., must be considered before commiting to that solution.
